Halloween 2011

This was the first Halloween that Logan attempted to really trick or treat. In the past we always drove him to a few friends homes and dressed him up. He was Chicken Little this year (from his favorite movie). He did not want to wear the chicken head piece but he did wear the rest. His school had a Halloween parade on the Thursday before Halloween and then on Halloween. He attended both because he goes Monday through Friday. The first one he wore his Chicken Little costume-one of his teachers got him to wear the head by carrying him. On Halloween he wore his Batman shirt with cape in the parade. He did well until he saw us-we hugged him and said goodbye for him to keep walking. He made it about 5 feet and crumpled to the ground crying :( We of course got him and walked with him the rest of the way. Halloween night all of our neighbors gathered in our cul de sac with a fire pit, tables of food and a table for bowls of candy so that the kids could choose a piece from each bowl. This was kinda cool since they didn't have to walk up to all the houses. I think the dogs missed out a little since they love to bark each time the door bell rings and we get a lot of trick or treaters. We took Logan around our neighborhood. Some adults were dressed up on the porch (which scared him a little), he enjoyed a neighbors spooky house and was excited to run around at night. He understood that you were too knock on the door and take an item and put it in the bucket. He also got that it was called candy but had no idea except when he saw a sucker and candy corn and his eye lit up! He would get nervous when people opened the door and would sometime require assistance from his dad. If people just left a bowl outside of their house he would still knock and then try to open their door-ha! He had a fun time and it took him quite a long time to fall asleep that night. He slept in till 8:30 the next morning. Too bad we both had to go to work and were anxiously waiting for him to wake. I think next year he will have even more fun and totally get the candy isn't just an item you collect in your bucket.

The first Halloween parade at school.

Right before he crumpled to the ground. He is the one in the Batman shirt.

Trick or Treating in our neighborhood.

Watering the plants seemed like a good idea to Logan when he was done trick or treating.

Pumpkin Time at Gentry's Farm

This was our second year of going to Gentry's farm. Logan enjoyed some of the activities and purchased a little pumpkin. He was frustrated that he could walk up to the chickens and birds cages but wasn't supposed to put his fingers in the cage (signs warned of pecking). He also thought you could pick any pumpkin you wanted to even from the displays. He loved the truck that was set up for pictures with gourds, hay, corn and pumpkins. He really wanted to swing on the big tire swings but they were way to big and high for him. After the farm we enjoyed some pizza at Mellow Mushroom in Franklin with our friends the Atnips and Wells.

October 2011-Zoo Time

We decided to enjoy a nice Fall day at the zoo. Logan enjoyed the petting zoo, carousel, close encounter of a giraffe (wish I had gotten a picture) and an interesting encounter with the flamingos. All of the flamingos were worked up over something and were fighting/pecking at each other in groups. I have some video of them all chatting and one got so close to us I was worried about Logan losing a finger :)
